Website Design - Do-It-Yourself or Hire Someone

By Jeffrey Meier

Website design is maybe one aspect of web sites that many people tend to overlook. Just tossing up a website and hoping for the best doesn't get the job done like it use to. Getting website design is almost a must if you want to be successful. Their usually is two ways people going about web design for their website, and that is doing it themselves or hire someone. Let's look at both of these and see how each one can affect your budget and even your time. If you do website design yourself, these are some factors that you may want to consider. For the most part website design has gotten a lot easier because better software has been introduced which makes designing a top notch website just a click away. One of the first things that you need to do before you use any kind of software is deciding how you would like it to look. Drawing a rough draft on paper is a very good idea and includes colors that you would like. This makes it easier when you start using website design software. Most of today's website design software can be point and click or upload to FTP accounts. This means that you have many options when designing your website. What happens if you have no idea about website design? Luckily you have two options. The first is to take online classes about website design. Many of these are free. Secondly consider hiring a company to do it for you. These are standard practice of internet business.

If youre going to hire someone to do website design there is some things to consider. First prices vary widely depending on how much work they do on your website. Secondly ask to see examples of websites they have already designed. This way you can see if they are going to be a good fit for yourself. Having a rough draft is also something to consider for somebody you hire. This will save you time and money. Getting on the same page is crucial especially if you are hiring someone to do the work. The more pages that you asked to be designed the more time it will also take someone. More often than not people who have had web design done are not happy with the results because they are not communicating with each other. To have a good website both parties need to have their input. Website design has been growing in popularity over the last few years as people and businesses have less time to concentrate on design and are working more on keeping and getting new customers. This is all important for internet marketing.

So, which do you choose doing it yourself, or having it hired? This depends on many things and as a person or even a business it's something that takes time to decide. One of the biggest things that affect website design is if you have it done is what will it cost. Many people usually try to get off as cheap as they can and that is not always the best idea. The old saying you get what you paid for can be used for website design. Consider every factor before purchasing website design and you should do fine. Remember that get more than one quote and always look at example and talk to customers they have done work for if possible. This way you will know what to expect and not expect more than their willing to deliver. It makes working with website design companies so much easier and you get the best work possible at the lowest price. The business principles for successful network marketing.

Just like anything else you do in life some good basic rules or tips to follow will let you design your web site so more customers come back time after time. Without visitors to your web sites you can't make sales or get your message out. There are some easy tips to use to make your site very user friendly and still get down what you intended it for.

Remember the K.I.S.S. theory you used in school well it works here to. Keep it simple stupid is something many web designs are forgetting about and losing customers very fast. People come to web sites looking for information or products and don't want to have to look forever for what they want. Make it web design simple to navigate and have everything easy to find and you will see a lot more repeat customers than ever before. Simple and easy seems to work best. Always use the best ecommerce tools that are available.

Excessive banner advertisements are something that you should also avoid at all costs. There is nothing wrong with having some banners on your web sites, but many times people go overboard and have they placed everywhere. A golden rule in web design is having one at the top and one at the bottom. That way it doesn't take away from your web site but still you have a chance for people to click these banners on. Use a banner advertisement wisely in your web design and you will be fine.

Audio is another great tool that people have been adding in web design and using it the wrong way. Now don't get me wrong audio is great, but many times people who first visit your web site don't like it. The best way is adding audio files to your web design and if a visitor wants to click it on then that is the best way to go. This way they are doing it and not being forced to listen to it.

One of the newest things in web design is the splash page. A splash page is usually inserted before you get to the web site to promote it or capture an email address. Try to avoid these especially when you design your web site. Splash pages work well as standalone pages, but not in conjunction with web design. People will just click away from web sites that have these as they consider these just a big hassle.

A quick overview shows that web design can be done fairly easily if you just follow some simple rules. Make it easy to navigate and find things. Limit the banner advertising on the site as it takes away from your web design. Limit the use of audio on the web site as it can be another detractor. Splash pages should be avoided if all possible as they just send traffic away not bring it in. Web design is the total outlook of your web site. Each part of your web site plays into how the customer or visitor views what you're offering. Remember that keeping it as simple as possible is usually best when you start out. As your web site grows than better web design can be incorporated into it. This a major part of internet information today.
